Band Together’s Long-Term Friends – Rich and Kelly Lee
“There is nothing better than raising money for people in need while having fun with friends in the process.” - Kelly Lee
When asked what corporate citizenship meant to them, Band Together sponsors, Rich and Kelly Lee responded: “To whom much is given, much is required.” (Luke 12:48). Year after year, they embody that sentiment through their sponsorship. We recently asked Rich and Kelly a little about their experience as Band Together sponsors, and what keeps them coming back.Rich has been a sponsor since our first cause, the 9/11 Disaster Relief Fund. Impressed by the camaraderie and compassion of Band Together's founding entrepreneurs, Rich joined to help raise money for people in need and has since served on the Board of Directors (2009-2012) and currently serves on the Advisory Board.Kelly joined as a Band Together volunteer after the first Casino Night in 2008 and then volunteered in the VIP section at that year’s concert. Next, she joined the communications team and led many of the website updates and improvements over the next few years. For several years, Rich provided the venue for Band Together’s fall Casino Night, an event to raise awareness and money in advance of the spring concert. Hosting the first event, Rich transformed his condominium in downtown Raleigh into a casino, with casino-style games and funny money for guests, and the rocking sounds of the Scott Sawyer Trio. When Rich and Kelly moved into a new home, the tradition moved with them and continued to grow. In 2012, they decided to bring the music back and take the party outside. Over 300 people enjoyed the music of Delta Rae at last year’s Backyard Cahoot.Rich and Kelly enjoy seeing Band Together grow, raising increasing amounts each year and benefiting numerous charities. They admire a non-profit operating nearly 100 percent on the hard work of so many gracious volunteers.Rich and Kelly are committed to helping our community by giving time, resources and financial contributions, and they host events for a variety of organizations at their home annually. Kelly serves on the Board of Directors for The Caring Community Foundation and The SPCA of Wake County. She also volunteers website and usability services for numerous organizations including the Caring Community Foundation and the Frankie Lemmon Foundation. Rich and Kelly co-host the annual Christmas For Kids event with the Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation, an event which connects sponsors with kids in need for a Christmas shopping spree at Target.
