Our Partner – CLOSING IN ON THE GOAL with Tammy Lynn Center

It has been the privilege of Band Together to partner with Tammy Lynn Center for the 2013 year. For forty-four years, TLC has been serving children and individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The center offers a place of acceptance, learning, and comfort for the nearly 400 families it serves every year. In addition to therapy services, the center provides Early Intervention; day services including a Pre-K program, summer camps, and before and after school programs; respite care; and residential programs all of which help their clients reach their individual developmental goals.We are quickly approaching our fundraising goal of $850,000, but the true value of what it will provide for the children and adults in TLC’s care is immeasurable. The funds raised will provide children with early education, maximize abilities with technology, and save lives with an inline oxygen system. And, through the eyes of Remy – the center’s youngest resident – we can see how much our efforts will help.Remy is an 8 year-old little boy who is quickly becoming more and more independent, thanks to the efforts of the staff at TLC. He has recently learned to use an electronic wheelchair, leaving his caretakers on their toes trying to keep up. Remy is non-verbal, but has a great interest in computers and computer games. With the funds raised through our partnership, it is hoped that Remy can learn to speak through automated communication devices.Remy and so many others will benefit immensely from the technology and services available thanks to our partnership this year. Together we can ensure a more complete and independent life for these exceptional individuals.
