As the holiday season continues, we wanted to help identify some local charities (many of which are our past nonprofit partners) that are spreading the cheer to those in need. The holidays are a perfect time to pick up some extra school supplies and clothing items to help aid their mission. There are numerous ways to give of your time, your talent, and your treasure. You can help our other 2014 partner, Communities In Schools of Wake County, by learning more about the Give Back to the Future Campaign today.Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental DisabilitiesTammy Lynn Center, our 2013 partner, has recently posted a holiday wish list to help aid the learning and growth for children in the program. Needs include clothing items, hygiene products, school supplies and more. You can sign up to provide items here.Urban Ministries of Wake CountyThe Helen Wright Center at Urban Ministries, our 2012 partner, provides safe housing to 36 women each night. There are many unique ways to give back, including– purchasing and lunches and snacks, creating a gift basket of goodies, providing holiday gifts for the ladies to open, and donating gift cards. For more opportunities to help Urban Ministries, click here.Alliance Medical MinistryAlliance Medical Ministry, our 2011 partner, welcomes donations of over-the-counter medications, allergy medications, nutrition supplements such as multi vitamins, and medical supplies. To aid with transportation of patients, gas gift cards and bus passes are also appreciated. Every $1 you donate provides 5 meals for hungry families and children in the community. Find out here about donating food, money, or volunteering with the organization.Raleigh Rescue MissionRaleigh Rescue Mission offers a variety of holiday volunteer opportunities. Through the month of December, they are promoting the “Gobbles to Go” outreach program, in which a full bag of groceries will be delivered to recipients on Christmas Eve. The Senior Santa Program is happy to accept gifts and wrapping supplies such as tape, wrapping paper and gift tags. Toy donations may be dropped off at 2725 Western Blvd in Raleigh anytime between 8am and 5pm on weekdays.The Salvation Army of Wake CountyDuring the holidays, The Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer Program works to fill up 9,000 stockings with goodies for Wake County children by December 13.
