Band Together Seeking Nonprofit Partner for 2015 Main Concert Event
Raleigh, N.C. (July 1, 2013) — Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, is beginning their annual process to select a nonprofit partner for the 2015 main concert event. Band Together and the nonprofit partner will work in collaboration to raise funds benefitting the selected nonprofit’s programs. Since its inception in 2001, Band Together has successfully raised nearly $3,000,000 for its local nonprofit partners. For nonprofits who are interested in applying to become Band Together’s 2015 partner, there will be a Q&A session at the Lincoln Theater at 5:30 p.m. on July 15, 2013. In order to be eligible, prospective nonprofits must be recognized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency. Band Together takes into consideration the percentage of funds that go directly to the nonprofit’s programs, the nonprofit’s ability to engage its board of directors and supporters as part of event leadership, and the ability to make a meaningful difference to the nonprofit’s recipients. An additional requirement is that the nonprofits serve the Triangle area and provide services without regard to a specific religious or political affiliation. This year’s 2013 concert event held at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre on May 4 raised more than $850,000 for Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (TLC). Proceeds went toward expanding services at TLC and improving the lives of the nearly 400 families TLC serves. The concert was headlined by Lyle Lovett along with supporting local acts Delta Rae, Chatham County Line and Mac and Juice Quartet. Past Band Together nonprofit partners have included Urban Ministries of Wake County, Alliance Medical Ministry, StepUP Ministry, The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, SAFEchild and more.
