Volunteers…We Couldn’t do it Without You!
We talk a lot about our recent event and what a success it was, raising more than $852,000 for the Band Together partnership with Tammy Lynn Center. While significant for us, in truth, that money came from much more than one event or one night. It represents a year-long partnership between our two organizations, and heroic efforts in the months leading up to May 4th. And although we did see amazing generosity the night of the concert from buyers in the silent auction, wine grab, the raffle and our text-to-give promotion, it was the fundraisers who worked the other 364 days who are truly our heroes. That’s why it’s appropriate to acknowledge David White, winner of this year’s Band Together Volunteer MVP award. David is not only a volunteer, but past-president and a current member of Tammy Lynn Center’s Board of Directors. And, his son, Sloan, was a recipient of services from Tammy Lynn Center. David helped envision what our fundraising goal could be, and was an essential leader in surpassing that goal. We’ve been blessed to have someone at the helm of fundraising who’s not only gifted in their ability to raise money, but an equally good manager and motivator.Last week we had handed out a number of other awards, some too silly to repeat. But, below is a list of just a few we recognized for their exceptional contribution. In the end, we are grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who made our 2013 event a smashing success.
