Band Together Hires New Executive Director
Raleigh, N.C. (Aug. 18, 2017) – Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music to raise funds and awareness for area non-profit partners, announced today the hiring of Thorne Daubenspeck as executive director. Daubenspeck is only the second executive director for the fast-growing nonprofit, which has raised nearly $7.8 million for Triangle-area nonprofits since 2001.In his role as executive director of Band Together Daubenspeck will develop, manage, and market the Band Together mission, volunteers and events. He will also oversee all aspects of fundraising, including developing strategies and initiatives for increasing and diversifying sustainable funding sources and long-term community partnerships.“Hiring Thorne marks a tremendous win for Band Together,” said Bob Ramseur, Jr., Band Together board president. “He has a solid history of leadership, business development and corporate philanthropy. He also has strong roots in our community and a great knowledge and love of live music events.”Prior to joining Band Together, Daubenspeck was Director of Sponsorship and Digital Sales at Shannon Media, publisher of Durham and Chapel Hill Magazines, where he managed events and aligned sponsorship to expand the company’s revenue. He marketed and managed an annual food festival with over 1,500 attendees and expanded the City of Durham’s “State of the City” program. And, in a former role as Senior Director of Sales and Corporate Sponsorships for Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), he built the number one Nederlander President’s Club Theater VIP program in the country and helped establish DPAC as one of the top-ranked theaters in the US. Previous to his time at DPAC, Daubenspeck also co-directed Premium Seat Sales for Live Nation at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh where he won national awards for sales increases.“I couldn't be more thrilled to join the Band Together team,” said Daubenspeck. “This opportunity combines my love for music, people and community and I can't wait to get started!”Daubenspeck holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an associate degree in art from University of Hartford in Hartford, CT.
