Welcome our New Board President – Lee Whitman!

Lee n DannyAt our September Board meeting, Board President and co-founder, Danny Rosin, symbolically handed over the "gavel," a Ramones drumstick retrieved from a concert he snuck into in 1985, to Band Together's NEW Board President and long-time volunteer/supporter/leader, Lee Whitman.Lee’s been involved with Band Together since 2007. He served as President of SAFEChild’s Board of Directors, and after their successful 2007 partnership with Band Together, Lee approached Danny and said he wanted to get involved with Band Together. Danny’s response...“Prove it!”Since that time, Lee has volunteered with Band Together as a ticket seller and bar back, set up for the event, served on the VIP committee, chaired the VIP committee, served on the Advisory Board, and finally, served as a member of the Board of Directors in 2012.“Being part of BT has always been and remains important to me,” said Lee. "I am so thankful to Danny for his vision and leadership over the years, and for allowing me to be a part of the Band Together ride.” Lee also notes that he emphatically accepted the new role as President and is fortunate to have the support of his girlfriend Amy Albers and his two sons, Hutch (15) and Wells (12) – all of whom love music as much as he does.In an effort to keep our organization fresh and offer leadership opportunities to others, Band Together’s bylaws ensure that board members roll off periodically. Danny will now run The Advisory Board, Music Selection process and mentor marketing/communications. Congratulations and welcome, Lee!back to top

Announcing our 2015 Event Chairs

A new year kicking off means not only a new nonprofit partner, but new leaders at the helm of our Main Event planning. These fine people are 100% volunteers; they do this because they care about the Triangle community. Congratulations and THANK YOU 2015 Main Event Co-Chairs:DanielDaniel Baum (Senior Manager in the Strategies Group, Troutman Sanders) – Daniel’s been with Troutman Sanders four years, and while he lived in the Mid-West and Southeast growing up, he went to high school in Raleigh and since 1998 has considered the Triangle home.Daniel went to Appalachian State and has a beautiful wife, Sarah, and two awesome kids – Lilly and Craft.  He walked into his first BTAWS at the Oxford in 2010 when StepUp first partnered with BT, and he’s been involved with VIP in every capacity (volunteer, layout, setup and co-chair) up to this point.HenryHenry Ward (Vice President, York Properties) – Henry’s been with York Properties for eight years, has lived in the Triangle since 1997 and is an NC State grad originally from Robersonville, NC.  For more than five years he’s been volunteering with Band Together, primarily in VIP and he served as VIP co-chair last year.Henry thinks the energy surrounding the partnership this year is electric, and says “Hold on to your hats - as predicted - the Band Together / StepUp partnership is going to be a fun ride!” He also says he has a lot of time and energy to devote to Band Together – as he’s still an eligible bachelor (ladies…).SarahSarah Werner (Marketing and Development Coordinator, StepUp Ministry) – Sarah’s been with StepUp for three years – about the same amount of time she’s been in the Triangle (she notes 1,117 days, specifically). She grew up in a log cabin in the woods of Pennsylvania, but at 17 her family moved to a horse farm in Kentucky. And, the loves of her life are her two nephews, Braden (7) and Lazarus (3).In 2012, she began volunteering with Band Together’s After Work Social Committee and is back this year full force. About this year, Sarah says “Organizationally, Band Together is really going to be a catalyst for StepUp as we go about replicating our programs throughout the Triangle. And StepUp is going to be a catalyst for BT by pushing to raise $2 million, the most it’s raised in a year!”back to top

StepUp 25

StepUp25Our 2015 nonprofit partner, StepUp Ministry, is an interfaith nonprofit organization that teaches low-income and homeless people to become self-sufficient. The StepUp Ministry mission – to inspire adults and children at economic risk to take responsibility for every aspect of their lives – has been a transformative model in the Triangle for 25 years. Since 2007, StepUp has placed more than 2,500 individuals in gainful employment and has built a process that provides a path to stable living for families affected by poverty. And it’s time to CELEBRATE! If you can't make it to the Backyard Concert at Cameron Village on Friday, October 10, join StepUp to celebrate their 25th year of transforming lives in our community. It will be putting a face to their mission through beautiful, moving images from local photographers that will tell the story of the individuals – and families – whose lives were changed for the better. The event starts at 7 p.m. at Marbles Kids Museum – click here for more info and to purchase tickets. We're thrilled to be partnering with StepUp and are amazed at their success.
