Turning Tragedy into Powerful Change

Earlier this year, our community suffered a terrible loss with the tragic and untimely death of Jamie Kirk Hahn, a rising leader and activist working for positive change.  Band Together is urging support of an upcoming event honoring Jamie, and this week we hear from Sarah Crawford, Director of Development and Public Relations at our 2013 partner Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, a member of the Band Together  board of directors – and a friend of Jamie Hahn.

Several months ago, a dear friend, Jamie Kirk Hahn, tragically lost her life. In her life which was cut all too short, Jamie accomplished so much; she was a true leader who embodied humility, diligence, caring for others, leading by example, building deep relationships and threading together the people in her network.  As someone who knew and loved Jamie, she is missed deeply by me and this entire community.

Over the last several months, Jamie’s family and close friends have been working to honor and continue Jamie’s Legacy, which has led to the creation of the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. Inspired by the legacy of Jamie, we empower and motivate emerging leaders to lift up their communities, their state, and their world. In other words, we help the helpers.

Jamie Kirk Hahn was a remarkable leader because she brought people together to do good. Together, we will continue her work. Together, we are building an army of Jamies, helping where they are most needed, serving with love and humility, and mentoring the next generation. And we are dedicated to advancing social needs by supporting the funding of established charities.

Jamie Hahn would have turned 30 years old on October 25th. Both Jamie and her husband, Nation, have been involved in the Band Together community as volunteers. So, in true Band Together fashion, we are using live music to inspire people and launch the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. It will be an incredible evening full of love, laughter and great live music from local bands including The Blue Dogs, who played in the first ever Band Together show.  I hope you can join us.
