Band Together NC Announces Event Co-Chairs for 2013
Raleigh, N.C., Oct. 2, 2012 — Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, has announced that Billy Pomarico and Missie Thompson have been selected as event co-chairs for Band Together’s 2012-2013 partnership with Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.Pomarico and Thompson will lead event planning, fundraising and public awareness efforts on behalf of the campaign to support Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, Band Together’s nonprofit partner for 2013. Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (TLCDD) offers educational, residential and family support services to children and adults with special needs.Band Together’s May 2012 concert featuring the B-52s attracted nearly 4,000 attendees and helped raise $566,000 for Urban Ministries of Wake County. Next year, Band Together hopes to raise more than $850,000 for the Band Together partnership with Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.Pomarico is a senior account manager at SharedVue, a division of UBM Channel. This will be his fourth year volunteering with Band Together. In his previous role as co-chair of the silent auction committee, Billy helped the committee grow revenue by 35 percent while streamlining the bidding and checkout processes. For 2013, he will focus on assisting and mentoring the volunteer, silent auction/raffle, music selection and After Work Social committees.Thompson is a channel development advisor for PNC Wealth Management. Through her involvement last year with Leadership Raleigh 27, she was able to work closely on Band Together’s very successful, second annual Last Band Standing event. She is also involved with other local philanthropic organizations, including Triangle Breakfast Club as well as the Wake County Boys and Girls Club, Band Together’s 2006 nonprofit partner.
