Band Together NC Seeking Nonprofit Partner for 2014

(July 9, 2012)Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, is beginning the selection process for the 2014 Band Together concert nonprofit partner. Band Together and the nonprofit partner will work in collaboration to raise funds benefitting the selected nonprofit’s programs. With the success of their 2012 concert, Band Together has donated more than $2,000,000 to local nonprofits since its inception in 2001.Nonprofits interested in applying to be the 2014 nonprofit recipient may attend a Q&A session at the Lincoln Theatre at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 23. To be eligible, prospective nonprofits must be recognized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency. Band Together takes into consideration the percentage of funds that go directly to the nonprofit’s programs, the nonprofit’s ability to engage its board of directors and supporters as part of event leadership, and the ability to make a meaningful difference to the nonprofit’s recipients. Priority is given to nonprofits that serve the Triangle area and provide services without regard to a specific religious or political affiliation.This year’s Band Together event, held at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre on May 12, 2012, was headlined by the B-52s and featured performances by Southern Culture on the Skids and BIG Something. The $566,000 raised for Urban Ministries of Wake County included funds from sponsorships, ticket sales, individual donations, guitar raffle and silent auction.
