Band Together NC Announces Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities as 2013 Nonprofit Recipient

Organization Hopes to Offer Additional Support Services to Individuals with Special NeedsRaleigh, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2011) — Band Together NC, a Triangle-area nonprofit that uses live music to raise funds and awareness for other local nonprofits, has announced Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (TLCDD) as its 2013 nonprofit recipient. TLCDD is a nonprofit organization offering educational, residential and family support services to children and adults with special needs, and will partner with Band Together leading up to a spring 2013 benefit concert.“This was a very difficult selection process this year, since so many of the nonprofit organizations that applied did a stellar job and are so very deserving,” said Danny Rosin, president and co-founder of Band Together. “Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities really impressed our board this year, and the stories of the children, adults and families touched by developmental disabilities really tugged at our hearts. With our partnership with Tammy Lynn Center in 2013, we can make a real difference in the lives of so many here in the Triangle.”Proceeds raised at the 2013 event will go to expanding the services offered at TLCDD, allowing the organization to make a difference for the nearly 400 families it serves. This includes investing in interactive learning technology to allow for enhanced communication, as well as securing life-saving medical equipment at TLCDD. In addition, the partnership with Band Together will allow TLCDD to hire a bilingual therapist to serve the growing needs of the Spanish-speaking community in Wake County.“We know that dealing with developmental disabilities can be particularly challenging, which is why we seek to provide loving care in a compassionate and caring environment,” said Sarah Crawford, director of development at Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. “The impact of this partnership with Band Together will be exponential to those we serve and their families who depend on us while they’re struggling with the special needs of their loved ones.”With the success of its 2011 concert, Band Together has donated nearly $1.5 million to local nonprofits since its inception in 2001. The 2011 Band Together event helped raise $482,000 for Alliance Medical Ministry. Band Together ensures that 100 percent of net proceeds raised goes to the nonprofit recipient.
