Band Together’s Mission:
Connecting our community to nonprofits through the power of live music.

Band Together is an amazing story full of hope, optimism and a dose of rebellion. Band Together was imagined by Triangle community leaders as a response to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. The vision has evolved from raising funds to support international tragedies to raising funds and awareness with a special nonprofit partner every year. Thanks to the tireless efforts of thousands of volunteers, generous corporate and individual sponsors, dedicated board members, musicians and the generosity of our community, Band Together has risen to be a powerful partner to nonprofits in the Triangle Area.

Band Together has donated over $10 million to benefit the Triangle community since 2001, strengthened corporate and non-profit relationships, supported musicians and had a lot of fun along the way.

We are the Mullet. Business (and social good) in the front, party in the back.

History:

Band Together is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses live music as a platform for social change. We have been a force of positive change and impact in the Triangle community since 2001! Following the tragic events on 9/11, our founders decided to be the change they wanted to see in the world. They co-founded what has become, to date, a philanthropic machine in the Triangle.

A key reason for the success of Band Together is our partnerships with local nonprofits.  Every year, after a rigorous vetting process, Band Together chooses a different Triangle nonprofit in need. Since September 11, 2001, under the leadership of a great Board and driven by a team of dynamic volunteers, Band Together has donated more than $9 million to nearly 20 Triangle nonprofits, including The YMCA of The Triangle, Special Olympics, Stop Hunger Now, Food Bank of Eastern NC, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, SAFEchild, The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, StepUP Ministry, Alliance Medical Ministry, Tammy Lynn Center, Triangle Family Services and Communities In Schools of Durham/Wake County. Our 2019 partnership is with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

Band Together has made some monumental steps forward in the evolution of the organization.  In 2010, the first Advisory Board was formed and is comprised of a group of energetic community leaders and music lovers committed to the success of Band Together.  In 2012 we hired our first Executive Director, and in 2014 topped the $3.5 million mark in total dollars  raised  to benefit the Triangle community. And in 2015 we added a program manager, raised $2 million with StepUp Ministry, and surpassed $5.5 in total dollars raised for our community.

Looking to the future, we hope that you will join our band of volunteers, staff and partners to continue to make the Triangle the best place to live in the country. We appreciate your support and involvement as we venture to continue to grow the largest annual philanthropic live music event in the Southeast.

Call for Change: Band Together Against Racism

August 12, 2020 / 7pm / WRAL

To our incredible Band Together family,

We had originally intended to host a community concert this year in celebration of our 20th year of service but like many of you, COVID-19 pandemic has inspired us to pivot.

While our organization’s impact this year won’t be as originally intended, it’s still vitally important to us that we continue supporting our community in ways that matter. That’s why we’re partnering with the United Way of the Greater Triangle to present Call for Change: Band Together Against Racism a virtual telethon to support the Anti-Racism Community Fund.

The Anti-Racism Community Fund aims to turn the nationwide conversation we’re all seeing into local action by providing resources to develop Triangle-wide community leadership and invest in anti-racism, systemic solutions to poverty. This event is about bringing our community together for the opportunity to listen, learn, and let music amplify a call for change.

We hope you’ll join us now and on August 12 when we launch a virtual telethon with WRAL featuring concerts from national artists at local landmark venues.

We'll see you virtually on August 12! We'll send you an email with event details.
