I haven't understood a bar of music in my life, but I've felt it.

Band Together donates $11,702 and packs over 10,000 meals for Haitian Relief Efforts

We are fortunate enough, with your pledges, to be able to donate $11,702 to Stop Hunger Now who has shipped more than 250,000 meals, bottled water and medical supplies to Haiti. We also worked with several area businesses to help package over 10,000 of those meals. Thank you again for helping us respond to this disaster as well as stay close to our heritage of being born a call-to-action group.

Event Testimonial

"The dedicated team of volunteers that comprise Band Together is exceptional in every way. They devoted themselves to understanding the mission of the Lucy Daniels Center and making it their own as they shared our story and sought support from the community. BT is a testament to the power a group of volunteers can have to inspire others to give and get involved, even during difficult economic times. In addition to presenting incredible concerts, BT builds community between sponsors, volunteers, and music lovers. They inspired our board, advisory board, staff, and parents to rally together around a common goal. The funds, community awareness for children’s mental health, and positive energy generated from this event have given the Center a new base of support that we can build on for years to come! We thank everyone involved with Band Together and look forward to paying it forward by volunteering in future years."

EVENT RECAP

Band Together personifies Margaret Mead's famous quote, "A small group of people can change this world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

In less than two months after signing four amazing bands, our efforts paid off and we executed our most successful event to date. Why?

Approximately 2700 people came to downtown Raleigh, to share a passion for music and raise money and awareness for The Lucy Daniels Center!

Did we raise funds? $140,993.05 has been donated to our 2009 Charity Partner, The Lucy Daniels Center. Also our Silent Auction brought in $18,367. and the Guitar Raffle raised $2,500.

Miss the show? Check out this live Rusted Root Clip. Stay tuned for more event photos and videos.

The Band Together faithful can't thank you enough for helping us provide a meaningful and rewarding experience in downtown Raleigh!  Our hard work will pay off in The Triangle to improve the lives of children suffering from mental health challenges.

About the Music
Rusted Root is 3 Million+ albums sold, a new May 09 release titled “Stereo Rodeo”, platinum recording artists with 9 releases, your favorite college song, new music and faithful fan favorites … coming to Raleigh on June 6th.

The Rosebuds are homegrown. They make music that embodies that certain spirit—youthful, but complex. Not at all fairytale, but magical. Not realistic, but real. Perhaps the way youth actually is. Their recently released their 4th and very different album, Life Like.

Chatham County Line: Band Together welcomes Chatham County Line back home from a tremendous touch the world tour, so get ready to be rewarded with some of the best bluegrass, alt-country ever...

Hobex: Doing their 3rd tour with Band Together, we welcome HOBEX back. And to just say they have soul is short sighted. HOBEX is soul and funk and spirit and youthful energy...and they are the kind of local, homegrown entertainers that make us proud to live here.

About the Lucy Daniels Center

According to the Surgeon General, nearly 1 in 5 children will have a serious mental health challenge, more than the number who will be affected by asthma or obesity. However, with early intervention, most of these children can be helped to overcome their challenges and go on become happy, healthy students and adults.

Locally, The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, the largest non-profit provider of mental health services exclusively for children up to age 11, addresses these challenges. Through its clinical and educational programs the Center’s highly-qualified staff provides mental health services to more than 550 children and their parents annually. All mental health services are provided on a sliding scale fee system, based on family income. Nearly 1/4 of families receive services free of charge.

The charity is a cause without a face given these children’s emotional and mental challenges are not as easily classified as a disease like cancer or as easily observed as children having difficulty walking or talking.  It can also be uncomfortable for parents to openly discuss their child’s emotional development.  Nonetheless, in most cases, the problems are real and severe to the child and their environment.
