I haven't understood a bar of music in my life, but I've felt it.

Band Together donates $11,702 and packs over 10,000 meals for Haitian Relief Efforts

We are fortunate enough, with your pledges, to be able to donate $11,702 to Stop Hunger Now who has shipped more than 250,000 meals, bottled water and medical supplies to Haiti. We also worked with several area businesses to help package over 10,000 of those meals. Thank you again for helping us respond to this disaster as well as stay close to our heritage of being born a call-to-action group.

Event Testimonial

"The dedicated team of volunteers that comprise Band Together is exceptional in every way. They devoted themselves to understanding the mission of the Lucy Daniels Center and making it their own as they shared our story and sought support from the community. BT is a testament to the power a group of volunteers can have to inspire others to give and get involved, even during difficult economic times. In addition to presenting incredible concerts, BT builds community between sponsors, volunteers, and music lovers. They inspired our board, advisory board, staff, and parents to rally together around a common goal. The funds, community awareness for children’s mental health, and positive energy generated from this event have given the Center a new base of support that we can build on for years to come! We thank everyone involved with Band Together and look forward to paying it forward by volunteering in future years."

Band Together for SAFEchild May 10, 2008

On May 10th, 2008, Band Together executed it's mission: Raise Funds? Check! A BIG ONE that will be north of $100,000 to SAFEchild! Raise Awareness? Check - we were able to spread the SAFEchild gospel to thousands of potential volunteers, financial supporters, music lovers, and perhaps, some program participants.  Raise the bar? CHECK! And we plan to top it at the next event.

We knew we'd be entertained when we signed George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic with Hobex and Yo Momma's Big Fat Booty Band, but who knew we were in for such a fabulously feathered/sequined/diapered circus on stage.  Click here for photos! Click here for videos!

Credit and appreciation goes out to a lot of folks: Our hardworking Board and Steering Committees, the enthusiastic volunteers, the wonderful people of SAFEchild, and Band Together's lifeblood, our sponsors.  Very importantly, Josie Reeves, event chair, is an amazing leader with the heart and soul needed to pull off this very successful event.

We have made a friend in SAFEchild as well as set the stage for raising the bar even higher with the next event. This Brings our total funds given to charities in just 9 events to over $560,000!

Event 411:
George Clinton is the greatest innovator of urban based soul, rock and funk. Born in Kannapolis, NC, George comes home when Band Together brings him and his collective to thrust energy and attitude into downtown Raleigh. The funky worm has turned with George back in control of creative output with his C Kunspyruhzy label and latest album "Take It to the Stage". George laughs, "I can't wait to grow this P-Funk thang all over again. I got the old roots with the live concerts and the new branches with the various band members, as well as my own solo projects." It's the best of ALL worlds- all worlds funky that is.

Make May 10th a night to visit the intersection of funk music and local altruism.  Cabarrus Street will be closed off for this Lincoln Theatre outdoor stage event, so dust off those glittery platform dancing boots and hot pink feather boas. Sponsors will get red carpet VIP treatment so don't be shy about stepping up a bit for the cause. Individual sponsorships begin with only a $125 contribution.
